Are you Solo? Teams are happy here but I think there are way better options for Solo drivers

Hey, I am considering USExpress, coming out of Las Vegas. I was just wondering,
    1) If I want to stay out a long time, like 3-4 months, can I do that?
    2) If you are in a team, like the prehire app says you have to be, how does hometime work, especially if I end up with someone who wants more hometime then I do?
    3) And I know this is a stupid question, but is it possible to avoid or minimize going to certain regions? ( I was born and raised in NJ and hope to never see it or New York City again in my life; I really want to see everywhere else in the country though)

From reading the threads, it seems to be a decent place to start.

No problem with staying out but you will not be able to accrue days off past 4 weeks unless you are willing to get reseated. They do not want the truck sitting for more than 4 or 5 days. You are required to team for 8 weeks but after that yo would likely be able to solo if you wanted. Going to be hard to find someone who wants to stay out for 3 to 4 months at a time I suspect. New York City and Long Island is not forced dispatch. That is the one area you can refuse. If you want to see the country, you want to be a team driver. Solos seem to get stuck in the North East a lot.

P.S. We love this company. Like anyplace, there are issues but very happy here.

It seems you are better off in a team here.

From what I read lurking in the board, you seem to get a lower CPM (actually a higher one you split) but a lot more miles as a team. The truck
can roll up to 22 hours a day, assuming you have the loads. And teams are utilized better than solo's (less waiting for loads) with USX.

The downsides seem to be most of your down time is in a rolling truck, and whether you get a partner you can live with and trust.

How does hometime work, if I am partnered with someone who doesn't live near me. Do you alternate, with one going home, and the other sitting in the truck or motel, then vice versa. Or do they put you with someone near your home base. It seems you would double the amount of hometime if you had to alternate, or were at odds about when you needed off( for example, driver one had an event on week, and driver 2 wanted to do something the next)

How do they team you, and what can you do if you have issues (hygiene, work ethic, trust, just annoy each other) with your partner.
Do they partner males and females?

    Thanks for the great thread.

Coming from Vegas I think teaming is your only option. They don't hire solos from out west.

You and your partner just have to work out your hometime. You will be expected to take it at the same time. That's just one of the many compromises of teaming. It's bedt to pick someone who lives nearby.

If you can't work with your team mate you can request a new one. They will probably ignore you so you have to push it. My current co-driver is 100% incompetent. If I don't find a new co-driver by Wed I will be switching back to solo until I find one.

The truck can roll 24 hours a day, only stopping for fuel and shift change, if you want.
