Are US Xpress solo drivers home on weekends, after you get your own truck?
-
I am no expert as I am only in orientation right now at USX, but I am pretty sure that unless you are dedicated (and then not even likely) there is no way you will be home on weekends. You will be able to get home every few weeks but anything like that a recruiter tells you is just crazy talk.
-
Heck no only way your getting home every. Weekend which is still iffy if you are dedicated. But I have been solo for 2 months and its hard enough to get routed home after 3 weeks
-
i've been solo and team, otr and dedicated with us xpress for 7 years and only 9 times have i NOT been home within 12 hr's of what time i put in for.
SheepDog Thanks this. -
I've been solo for 8 months and have gotten home on time once. It really all depends on where you live because there has to be a load headed in your direction and you have to be close enough to get home "on time"......I live in Missouri and it never seems to fail that I'm usually back east the day before I'm scheduled to be home.

My husband runs SE Regional and he is home just about every weekend for 34 hour restart. However, he was told today that since freight is slow that he may need to stay out two weeks and then get 48 hours on the weekend.

NoCoCraig. This is Rick. How was orientation? at this time Gus works for Maverick Solutions in Fort Morgan, Dan is with May trucking and I start with JBS Carriers Monday, as for Vicky, ?? tell your better half i said hello.
-
Rick, that is great news. So happy Gus got on with Maverick. I have heard a lot of good about JBS so that should work out great for you. Orientation was great, I am somewhere north of Wichita right now and with my trainer, Anne does not have a trainer yet and is hanging out in Atlanta with her best friend from school. Being a non-smoking woman, I have heard takes a couple of weeks to find a trainer. We have been very impressed with the people, facilities and equipment at USX. I am sitting in a sweet 2010 Freightliner Cascadia and I have to say, I have no idea why I would ever want anything other than an automatic. It is pretty nice. Please stay in touch.

I'm curious about USX. Most of my experience comes from PAM Transport.
Can you tell me about the dispatch system? I've seen it on some USX dashboards and it looks a little different and nicer then Qualcomm though I haven't seen it up close.
Also for solo OTR how are the dispatches? 1 or 2 day runs? Just wondered because I've been frustrated by how my current company stacks preplanned dispatches on the driver. I guess I prefer just having 1 dispatch and finishing it before getting the next one. Especially if I'm on Elogs.
Is USX good at directions? My current company is not always so good at directions or even getting the business name right.
Aside from that are most of their trucks Volvos? I drove one of the the last PAM Volvos and I really liked it.
