What State was this. It must be a State's law because that it stupid. It's your choice in my opinion. Let me guess, Minnesota? I guess your fatigued if you have your shoes off!

If I could go barefoot and work I would be. I go barefoot year round, I know my neighbors talk about me. It's fun to wear a pair of shorts, no shirt and barefoot in the snow to go and get the mail. Should see the looks I get from the two old ladies that live nearby.

I remember when I was younger, Illinois had a rule about shoes when driving. I have not looked it up in years.

Show me the law for that. I have never seen a federal regulation and I know there is nothing in my State for that.

There is no law in California requiring shoes while driving.

Ive worn my mocassins while driving as well as my slippers, cause both were real comfy to wear while driving, once in a while my shoes would start to bother me while driving and off they would come, and yes sock feet,,

Are you saying that there is such a law in California, notarps?
Can you quote a code section on that?

I won't drive anything without wearing shoes, and most likely boots. But it is strictly for comfort. I just don't feel right behind the wheel barefoot, or in socks.

I think the little green book has FMCSA on it.

A quick check shows FMCSA regulation 398.4(g)(3)

g)(3) Interference with driver. No motor vehicle shall be driven when any object obscures his view ahead, or to the right or left sides, or to the rear, or interferes with the free movement of his arms or legs, or prevents his free and ready access to the accessories required for emergencies, or prevents the free and ready exit of any person from the cab or driver’s compartment.
