Its just about the same if you can navigate LA county then New England will be a piece of cake. As you know the roads in So Cal are crappy just like ours! A few runs in and out of here and you will have it licked

 

My only advice is learn to run 2am-4pm if you can especially in the summer. Parking will be easier and the bulk of your driving will be easier as well- less traffic.
Also if your paying cash for tolls, don't use the GW going northbound; use the tappan zee bridge.mor set yourself up to use I84 coming east.
