they are only foglights if they have an amber or yellow lense, other wise they are driving or road lamps. I use mine whenever my headlights are on low beams, I find they light up the closer portion of the road and the near sides of the road better then even properly adjusted headlights do. Mine cancel when the lights are off or when my high beams are on.

Now, I did recently see a Volvo that used the roadlamps as DRL's instead of the regular headlights. I think this will be trend now that some of the truck makes are going to HID headlights, a typical D2S or D1S HID bulb is about $190 to $250 vs a 35w regular bulb for the driving lamps being $15.0

Well then what I thought were called fog lights are not that then, if your definition is correct. The lights I have are the same color as regular head lights, but are small like fog lamps. They also do not come on unless turned on and go off when high beams are activated.

I despise those lights, some people run with them aimed way too high, all they are good for is blinding people, not just on trucks but on 4 wheelers too, if you want to run them fine but have the courtesy to turn them off for oncoming traffic.

We used to run big spot lights on our trucks for running up in northern Ontario where you really need them because it is so dark and there are lots of moose at night, but you would never run with them on all the time and you would dim them for oncoming traffic.
