Recruiters do tend to sugar coat the facts, but you need to start somewhere and in my opinion USX is pretty good. As long as you can pick up and deliver on time, you should stay pretty busy.
Once you get that first year in, you can decide whether to stay or move on to someplace else.
Good luck and keep us updated on how you're making out.![]()

Will do on the update...glad to hear from a usx driver the real scoop, will follow up here once I find out if I get a prehire as there now for sure my first choice,
One other question for a fellow driver,I know they said they accept pets but just how pet friendly are they? I have a boxer/lab that I'm very fond of and want to make sure they will do the same

According to their drivers handbook, they charge $500 one time fee (non-refundable) and $25 per week to keep a pet on the truck. Best to double check that when you get to orientation. If its different let me know. Always thought about bringing my pooch along.
Many USX drivers have their dogs with them. I got to pet 2 dogs on my way in to the terminal this morning.....lol. -
wedge, great job on keeping us updated on your experiances with USX. I am wrapping up school and hope to training with Vin in a few weeks. We live near each other so I hope to meet you down the road. Be safe!

Hello There.
Well, I'm sitting in the USX terminal in Shippenburg, PA watching the storm clouds move in.(why does it always rain when you wash your truck?)
I can't deliver early. It's a live unload scheduled for 0700-1600 tomorrow. (here comes the rain...)
I have a P/A that picks up later that morning in Avenel, NJ and delivers in Springfield, VA. (now I need interior lights)
It's a short haul (238 mi) but moves me south and toward home. (now the yard is mud...)
This week I need to renew my DOT medical certificate, so the plan is to get me to one of our terminals when they do physicals for new drivers. This happens on Mondays and Wednesdays. (rain is slowing down)
USX provides the DOT medical exams free of charge to their drivers. (sun's trying to come out...lights off)
I believe Shippenburg does orientation, so it's convenient that I'm here. The PA that I received has a specified PU appointment time for 0800. If there's a window of time to pick up that load, I may try to stay and get the exam done while I'm here. (sun's not out...light's stayin' off....still drizzlin')
If not, my guess would be Tunnel Hill, GA on Wednesday, which is the first day of home-time. (rain stopped....I'll have to tip toe around the puddles)
Just finished watching "Master and the Commander". Good movie. Had Nacho cheese flavored popcorn.
I'm bored.......but the sun's coming out.
(heck with it....I'm jumpin' in the puddles)
Thanks for reading.

Good luck with your training, ALT-1. Vince is a good guy. You'll do well to get him as a trainer. I usually post my general location, so if you think you're near me once you get out on the road, send me a pm and we'll try to do coffee. -

You were getting the same storms we did here- rolling on through sunny one minute pouring rain the next! The upper east coast has some weather system that we are stuck in that has been rain and cold for the last week. Suppose to be nice by the end of the week!!Wedge Thanks this. -
Geez, tell me this isn't forshadowing things to come. I'm sitting at home right now waiting, waiting, waiting for a team partner. Ugh. Cannot even get an answer from the "team coordinator". I was supposed to go out Monday(my 5th day off, not including the 3 days over Memorial weekend waiting to upgrade). Monday came & was almost over before I called them because I hadn't heard anything. They were showing me still on my trainer's truck. Ok, no big deal. Brian says, "We'll call you tomorrow with a plan." Alright. Tuesday, Angel calls. "We are working on a plan, I'll call you after lunch." Big surprise, no call. So, I call this morning & talked to Angel. "I'll call you in 20 minutes." 3 hours ago. I know they are busy. I know I need to be patient. I also know I need to be working because I've got bills to pay. I didn't even want to have to team in the first place. Geez! Sorry y'all, just venting here. It's a bit frustrating.
