Last year I got in a rear end collision and cited for following too closely in a personal vehicle. No one was injured thankfully.
I'm considering getting my CDL. I already hold the learners permit, I'm just wondering if I should even bother going for the CDL itself. I know my particular accident is considered a big one in the trucking industry but will it completely rule me out until it falls off?

@Chinatown will be around shortly & provide info.

Not if that's all you have going against you. It won't help, but if that's the only blemish, and since it was in a personal vehicle BEFORE you even had your permit (let alone CDL), you should be ok.
-
I wouldn't think that one ticket would dampen your chances.Do you have any other traffic violations? What I would do is call a few companies Just to see if they would hire with that one citation. Then make your decision about school.
-
It was the ticket and the accident, besides that, there is nothing on my mvr.
-
So you caused the accident by following too close?Tailgating can be an issue but if that's all you have I would think it won't be a problem.
-
Let me put your mind at ease. Your not going to have much trouble getting a job. Because most likely your going to be hired by a training company anyway. Keep your nose clean be a good hand and in a year or two of safe driving almost any company will hire you.
-
Prime and Maverick won't hire you, but plenty of other companies will.
Will you attend a private cdl school or trucking company cdl school? -
