We have companies that can be used to monitor credit histories; but is there a company that offers a kind of subscription service to monitor driving histories? I envision a company that can provide you with, not only annually/semiannually/quarterly reports from your home state's DMV, check against national databases for changes, and provide unlimited on demand online access so that we, as drivers, can address any issues that arise before the dreaded suspended license due to failure to appear/pay. It could also alert you in the event that someone got into your records and created a fake CDL in your name with their picture.

nope do not need it you do not give out your DRL# except for applying for work. you should know if your licence is either revoked, expired and how many tickets you have on it. period. for the most part people use your name DOB and SS # to steal your identity not your driver license number that is stored in a state data base that is interlocked with all other states and has your smiling mug on it. So No people do not try and use it.

In my case, I do not have the joys of having a common name; but I did have a situation when I was a property manager when I had to screen an applicant for housing which included a criminal background check and this applicant did have a common name. The report came back with a potential match for a criminal record which included a sex offense and an automatic disqualification for low income housing. When a match occurs, I needed to go back to the provider of the results and do an identity match on the applicant in question... Sure enough, this applicant had the same name, and birthdate, as well as the last 4 of the SSN. However, this applicant was of the opposite sex, and a different race than the match and the offense occurred in a state where the applicant had never even been. With this information, I was able to get the applicant approved. Same thing with driver's licenses being used fraudulently; this is just a form of identity theft and it is a huge problem. If you are not careful, you might never know what you will find. I am very protective of my identity and nothing gets out that I don't put out, but I am alerted to potential issues before they cause problems with my employment.

You are searching for a business idea, correct?. Ok it's always good to have your own successful business. If you have done your do diligence & everything looks good, take it to as many related forums as you can for comments. Of course the naysayers will never encourage you. They told Sam Walton he was crazy to think a business could survive being open all night. Look for the niche, you may have to rearrange your thinking, no problem, right? And if it doesn't all come together, start over with a new idea. People like you can eventually develop any good idea,. keep searching. This may not work out, fine just keep searching.

NO and the reason is that few if any would use it..... Iyou can do this anytime you want... all you need to do is walk into DMV and get ityou do know that your state DMV will send you a letter 30-45 days BEFORE they suspend your license right.... that gives you time to find out what's up and fix it...really.....? and just who do you know that this has ever happened too

I was thinking about the idea you envisioned. The more I think about it the more I like it. Actually there may be a need for an alert system other than what DMV provides by mailing letters out. But to make $ it depends on how many drivers have had trouble with their licenses, and finding that out would be an astronomical task and gaining access to statistics.
The reason an alert system may be good is because we as drivers are out on the road for weeks and normally won't receive our mail till we get home. I doubt anyone calls in weekly to get updates especially if they aren't expecting problems. So for example if DMV suspends my license then sends me out a suspension notice for whatever reason, the deed is done by the time I get the letter weeks later. Another example could be a notice requiring I bring in medical papers by a certain date which I forgot about etc again I won't know till weeks later when I get home & read my mail. Imagine driving on a suspended license without knowing it? It's actually happened to me and I found out only when my license was pulled when I had a random inspection at a scale house. There I was stuck 1/2 way across the nation far away from home. the story is here on my thread called
"attention-newbies-worst-states-for-speeding"
So if you could find a way to hook into DMV reports to know what is happening on a person's record & immediately be able to notify that person of such either through texting or automated calls or emails (their choice) then you'ld have the interest of at least the OTR drivers' to sign up, possibly anyone with or without a CDL.
Again however, I actually believe this type of system would need to be a introverted into the DMV government dept . Not that it would be impossible if you received a grant to do accomplish it and the backing of some government official along with the DOT dept.. There are tons of private businesses which are funded by the government these days = jails, security, military programs etc. So there you go, now get crackin' you have a lot of work to do! Good Luck -
Most states have a program for a carrier to get notice of any violations, warnings, ect as they hit the system.
