The article left out anything about merging. Cars who don't know how to merge are my biggest peeve. Especially the ones who drive 40 mph all the way to the end of the acceleration ramp and get in front of me hitting the brakes, waiting on me to "do something." They make me hit the brakes and slow down, then they speed up to 70 mph after they just made me drop down to 45. Now I'm trying to climb back up to 65 as they speed away. Why not just hit the gas pedal instead of the brake when you're on the ramp and get on down the road so we can?

This is the very reason trucks in Atlanta use the second lane for the most part. And if on the right, they get over to allow mergers in. Sometimes these fools seem to think they're in their driveway. I've seen where the trucks couldn't get over and there was a slug holding up the merging traffic on the ramp, causing a major bottleneck with no where to go.
So, as it happens every time, EVERYBODY has to SLOW way down, cars behind try to fight for lanes to get around, someone has to go down the shoulder because of the truck stuck in the slow lane, several may mix it up, and when it untangles, somewhere around 500 gallons of fuel is dispersed into the atmosphere in the forms of NO2, hydrocarbons and God only knows what...
...all because ONE retarded individual has no business whatsoever getting on the interstate.

I am with you on this. Cars who SLOW DOWN on the ACCELERATION RAMP are so incredibly annoying - whether you are behind them, or trying to gauge where they are going to enter the highway.
Overall, though, a very good article.

:biggrin_25519:Excellant article. Congrats on placing an article of that great magnitude. If there were someway to get the 4 wheelers to read and remember that, the roads would be alot better and safer place. Koodos again. It's nice to know there is someone who understands.:biggrin_25520:

I totally agree.-4-wheeler drivers that can't learn how to merge don't belong on the interstate. This is probably the worst problem I have with 4 wheelers,DAILY.

Hmmm i change lanes all the time to allow merging traffic on. CA 99 is suicide, if you don't. Have done it with CHP in front of me, and following me, Nothing said from him to me. And i'm there often, since i live over on the other side of the mountain.
So when did they pass the Move over Law?
I think that should be the law in all 50 states.

Nicely written article. Now to make it required reading for all licensed drivers...

The problem is most of the people who drive dangerously, either can't read, or have no common sense. I think knowing Newtons laws of motion should be manditory on all driving tests.

i dont meen to hog the thread ,id like to throw my 2 cents in, but if a driver were to even get into a little fender bender while moving a commerical vehicle around on a street that can make a drivers day go from good to very very bad the reason being is that its not just swap info and maybe even deal with a ticket and be on your mary way,no no no it can go on way beyond that , D.O.T. in most cases may be called out and will preform a full inspection of the truck tractor and trailer and they will find any little reason to try and find a driver responsible for an accident, and they will also look at the driver for example his med card, licencs a drug test log book must be upto date and they look for any violations for hours of service and could even be put out of service for as long as 2 days thats money lost . so to put it in perspective think next time you (the 4-wheeler) are driving around a big rig just have this thought tucked away at the back of your mind that they have alot at stake and do as much as possible to avoid a accident, also on a side note most professional drivers that have there cdl and value it are far more safer drivers in there personal vehicle then anyone else due to the fact that it is the only commercial license that they can get in there lifetime and if they loose it for any reason commercial of personal they loose there meens of income in most cases, so please think before you do anything that can cause harm to yourself and or anyone else ,stay out of a drivers blind spot ,a rule of thumb is if you cant see there mirrors they cant see you, also for those of you that think of drafting trucks is a good idea dont , if a driver dosnt know your there and sees a emergency ahead and needed to take some sort of action and brakes hard well you know the rest . and for those vetren drivers please dont knock me just cause of my status on this forum iv been around trucks my whole life and know how to conduct my self around them

About 3 weeks ago I was coming thru Ohio and I saw a 4-wheeler driving so close to the trailer and I personally would have never driven that close to a trailer....then just after I thought that I saw smoke and the trailer tire blew up and went straight the the windshield of the 4-wheeler....the truck slammed on brakes and so did the -wheeler....the tire blew up and hit the female driving the car and I am sure she was severly injured...this is a real problem otr and I have found 4-wheelers that drive too close behind me....apparently they do not care or think of the dangers that are only just a few feet from them....so plz if you are a 4-wheeler driving behind semis...you need to stop now before its too late......also I enjoyed the article....
