Most companies have limiters or governor switches and you can't go more than 60-65 mph. Since you will most likely also have the big brother unit (QualComm) in your truck. I wouldn't worry about driving too fast, or too slow as they can monitor you anywhere in the country. Trust me, you will get a message on the QC or a call to your cell if your speed is an issue.

Fuel economy is a big thing right now with a lot of companies - that's the deal with the governed speeds. We have to pull 6.25 mpg week-over-week; company trucks are limited to 62 now, although mine is at 63. Our lease trucks are at 72, but I understand they are going to cut them back as well. Peterbilt has a page on their site regarding fuel economy - they indicate that you loose 1% per mph over 55.

Me, I don't tell em' anthing. I just put along in the right lane at about 62 or so. And I own my own truck, I also have to pay for the fuel. I figure if they want it at 9am they will want it even more at 9:05 when I get it there. I'll take the 7-8 mpg over the 6 range every day. -
I have a triple digit running truck however I have never hit the 100mph in it...dont need too.....I drive as fast as weather conditions allow for...mostly stay in the 73 to 75mph area if possible dont matter what state i am in THATS why i have a cb and use it to see where i need to slow down lol...like back in the day (some of you may remember them days) if raining, snowing or in icy or fogg conditions I back it down till i feel i am at a safe speed for conditions...and yes fast trucks may not get you more miles a week THEY DO GET YOU MORE TIME AT HOME when I can get there 4 to 5 hours quicker than you can....love my fast truck...

Same here... 6.25 is just the minimum. We get a fuel bonus based on how much better we do. Show me the dead presidents!

Landshark... enjoy it while you can! Fuel prices will go right back up as soon as the economic slump turns around, and world demand for diesel goes back up...
