Jose89, are you primarily loading out of americold and simplot?? if so then i understand the 53 foot trailer deal, i used to load out of americold in Ontario Oregon a lot, the company i ran for had a lot of 48s, but when i took a 48 in there they would grumble and say we told your company not to send those as we only load 53s now,, of course americold in oregon makes theyr own rules, I hated going there, always slow loading , and if you were late with out a 4 to 6 hour notus to them they charge you 100 bucks before you can hit a dock,, how absurd,, they dont pay you if they make you late.

If you do, get a spread axle it will take some time to get used to it cause the wheels don't bend like they do in a normal spaced trailer but it's just better because you can get about 6'000 lbs more.

you can not put more weight on a spread then a tandem

do we really need to go over this crap again? just because you can go 40k on the spread instead of 34 on the tandems does not mean you can put an extra 6k on the trailer

You're both right, but you're confusing the newbs.

You can go with 40k on a spread (10' or more), legaly, provided you stay at or under 80k gross.

wtf? You serious???? You can do it as long as you stay at or under 80k. Wtf do you drive anyway? Then tell me why people buy a spread axles? Yeah tough so..... It don't make no sence to buy a spread axle rffer that cost more money and get the same thing out of them both when you could buy a tendem axle.....

    You said

A spread doesn't let you get and extra 6k pounds in it. it just lets you put 6k pound more on the rear axles so you have to be 6k lighter on the truck. Staying under 80k gross so you can't "get about 6k ibs more" you just get to move it around.

I started in this business pulling spreads. I learned to drive pulling spreads hauling west coast produce. we owned nothing but spreads since the 80's. I spent the last 7 years pulling medical equipment on 8 foot and 10 foot spreads. I think I know what I'm talking about.

I know what you meant, but it's NOT what you said. At least I know what you meant with the assumption that you knew what you are talking about but then again I learned not to make that assumption long ago

all them west coast and FL produce loads musta been in a van then... my bad

we're talking legal here not running the cheater dumps. I spuds every season in a spring ride 45 foot van at 100k gross. that's a whole different subject

I can't tell you how many times I showed up with the "required" 53 footer. Only to have the dumb### broker set the pick ups in the wrong order. But he had enough to fill a trailer, with ALL the weight on the ###, and at the doors. Light stuff on the nose.

No way in #### could it be axled without incurring additional cost to reload the whole shooting match.

And you can bet your ### pick up number 7 wanted to be paid double the going rate to do it.

nobody seems to know how to load a trailer anymore. Seems like they all want to load them for california setting. ###### I hate pulling this 53 foot tandem box, they could at least load it so I could stretch the sucker out a bit. I've had countless loads the past year since I've been pulling boxes that I could not get enough weight off the truck
