I agree. I see guys who must think they are on Ice Road Truckers with the clothes they are wearing. What is more interesting is the people who have 87 pounds of stuff on the dash. How do they get the defrosters to work?

I pulled into the Big Souix TS IN Grand Forks a couple days ago to put on a bit of fuel and grab something off the rack. It was a balmy 0 degrees with a nice 25 mph breeze out of the north. I was standing there pumping fuel in a t shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. Another driver walked by, looked at me and said something about crazy and shook his head as he walked away. He was all bundled up in a parka with the hood up. I can't for the life of me figure out why though.
I got almost the same reaction at the TA in Albert Lee Minnesota a few years ago. It was a nice -15 but the breeze was up to about 30. I was back on my way to the truck from taking a quick shower. Again simple T shirt and jeans etc. The guy pumping fuel in his truck was standing there shaking etc in full coveralls and the works.
I keep the heater on just warm enough to keep the windshield clear. I don't really care for the heat. Hard to sleep when it is too hot in the truck. I like it to be around 50 degrees in the truck when I sleep.scottied67 Thanks this. -
I'm not driving truck yet - but I also like it a bit cooler in the vehicle - too warm and I tend to 'zone' - which I DO NOT want to do once I start driving truck!!

OK, so you're wondering how a driver wear a hugh coat and drive ? I'm wondering how these cowboys in these western movies wear long johns, long sleeve shirts, coats and hugh overcoats day in and day out. And it's sunny and warm out. Seen the current "true grit" movie?

alright guys. here's my 2c. I wear my leather coat whether in the truck or not. cept of course when i go to bed. I'm warm blooded and if it cold out i freeze. even when i got the heat on fer the windshield etc, im still cold. I know turn it up.
The tid bit about the cowboys, I dress in jeans and long shirts all the time. Thats partly why they call me Cowboy. One when I'm workin in brush and stuff keeps the cuts and stuff to a min. on the other hand, tho i may get all swetty, it keeps me cool in the heat once the wind kicks up. Mind you i do dress done jeans a short sleve and tennies w/ ball cap on a rare occasion, but generally wear my other. -
Sometimes I wear a coat if its real cold outside (and dry) and then I will have the window down with the heat up a bit. Love cool fresh air!
EDIT: Re-read, thought I should define "real cold." I am from CA, and that is about 30-40 degrees lol. I love when it does get down into the 20s though. Does not happen often where I live, but its nice for a change.scottied67 Thanks this. -
I take my coat off before driving. I turn the heater up since......

I don't get it either. I've been either wearing a tshirt or a hoodie lately. If I need the heavy jacket I put it on after stepping out of the truck and usually take it off before getting back into it. Even when I took my road test while the instructor was doing his side of things I got up and took my heavy jacket off. I hate feeling confined.
Also I've noticed if the truck gets too hot I start to get sleepy. That's when I know I need to turn it down some and/or crack a window.scottied67 Thanks this.
