    Is it an RGN?

As in a lowboy type trailer, for those that do not know that RGN is removable goose neck.

Heartland did order their trucks with an automatic dump, which prevented blowing the airbag when popping out from under a loaded trailer. I was told that they still do order them that way, but I really don't know.

The darn things would drop clear down and come back up slowly on their own. Not real good if dropping a trailer and trying to back up to the next one in the line, it worked better to drive around the block first. Another thing, you need to lock the power divider or it hangs on any little bump until you get some air back into the suspension,

The leased trucks we have now all have dump valves, I have never driven a tractor without a trolley valve.

I guess I should stay out of these conversations lol.
I have pulled WAY too many types of trailers.
I put down 9 years exp to be fair. Since I have left trucking a few times. But I have been driving them since 1991.
Allot was local, with construction type work. Or anything and everything that happens around concrete, lumber and steel.

I can let the new guys guess and have some fun.

Heartland is still using that. I am with them now.
Pain in the rear. Most still pull out to fast anyway and do not stop before pulling away from the trailer. I normally will let the trailer slip down the 5th wheel, then stop and send my drop message while my frame is still under the trailer.

    25(2)+2 Thanks this.

How many of you have a valve on the trailer to dump the air when you park it?

I did when I was on flats. All had what was marked as an "emergency air dump" or "manual air dump".
I am with heartland now, and all trailers are sprung.
Most air ride trailers I have driven have an automatic dump when you set your trailer brake.

Ok, time for bed. Have fun.

I have "Auto-Dump" on my Benson...As soon as I pull the red knob, The suspension dumps.

    I really like that feature.

That's exactly how we did it in school too. When you do that and nothing changes it works perfect. When you drop an empty trailer on flat level ground, then a shunt truck takes it to get loaded and it then gets dropped on a spot that is not flat and level the front of the trailer will be either higher or lower in relation to your 5th wheel than it was when dropped.

I got a new Pete in January and our shop added a valve so I can add air to my tractor suspension. It is pretty much a trial to see if it is something that is helpful. I have used it a couple times when crossing R.R. tracks with our lowboys, it adds about 4" to the ride height when the bags are fully inflated. They also added fifth wheel ramps for me, that really helps when trying to get under some of these trailers.
