I say hide a shutoff valve on the emergency line somewhere under the trailer thats not easy to spot. Cheap and effective. Even an experienced tow guy would have a hard time and end up having to cage the brakes to move it.

Grubby, Landau, hoosiergirl and 2 others Thank this.

Why don't they manufacture new trailers out the factory with remote-controlled automatic kingpin locks installed ... maybe someone ought to come up with a design and patent it

So is a plain old screwdriver.

I picked up a trailer once where there was no handle. It was laying on the ground next to the trailer, broken.
A screwdriver through the bracket holes and setting it to high gear (low gear, whatever) let me turn it, slowly, to raise the landing gear.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Take off the glad hands? What is this, the railroad yard? Why not pull the wheels off while we're at it. I like Goodysnaps idea of hiding an air shutoff valve. That wagon ain't going anywhere, and you could inform someone in a "drop and hook" situation, and be on your way.

    Grubby and Goodysnap Thank this.
