No I wasn't saying pull the red valve. It's been awhile so bare with me. After you disconnect the lines from the trailer deck that goto the gooseneck you should be able to supply the neck with air to operate the pin without air leaking past the airline fitting on the neck. Kind of like the hydraulic fitting on our car carriers. Fluid only flows when the line is connected. I hope that makes sense.. lol

Looking at the first picture - if the dowels retract - wouldn’t they be greased and not painted?
I don’t know as all my trailers have been trail kings
But my air pin is vertical -
You need a hardwood 4x4 block that will fit across the top of the rgn ramps. Dump the tractor airbags first!!!!You put it close o the top of the ramps (underneath the trailer neck) as you possibly can without it touching the trailer. Then pull the pin that actuated that air chamber. Air up the tractor airbags, and pull forward. It should lift the rgn neck up and out. Without that block, if you pull out, the trailer neck will slam into the ground.

We had that same sort of double drop the crane company where I worked. It's been a long time and I only ever saw it go out twice in 5 years.i don't think the pins retract. I think it has to be at a certain height and on flat ground so you can get back on the dowels with you tractor air dumped. Again it's been a long time. I hope I'm not confusing more than helping.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Well you would think, but how else would you get the neck off the dowels? The dogbones don't move.Oxbow, snowman_w900 and SAR Thank this.

Most mechanicals have dogbones that move, you drop the trailer to the ground the pull the dogbones then hook back up which lifts the neck up but not the trailer then release the deck lock pin, I know Nelson trailers had retractable pins and that's what makes sense here.Oxbow, snowman_w900 and SAR Thank this.

I miss understood your statement, you'll have to unhook the gladhands when you drop and the lock pin would have no air.Oxbow, snowman_w900 and SAR Thank this.

I was up at the crack of dawn waiting for sunlight to hit so I can get out there......
Still no go.... but, what I did find out is that in order for the pin to engage, it has to have air running constantly to it...the minute I set my brakes or undo the air lines, the pin re-engages.... Im gonna try to post a video. -
Hey partner, I pulled a Talbert 40 ton mechanical for awhile. What exactly are you needing to know?Oxbow Thanks this.
