Drowsy Driving, Zero Options

That will cheer me up lol. And because I drive a daycab I can stop in the parking lot without them kicking me out for fear I'll take a #### behind my truck lol.

 

with one employer i had, i'd drive from MA to Richmond, VA in a day cab, go into a motel for my 8.

then many times come on back...or go to Greensboro, back to richmond, take my 8, or from Richmond to Louisville, go into the bunk house.

sleepers are convenient for sure, can take a break anyplace (legally) and zone out for a nap comfortably..

but the day cabs (for me) worked out so much better.

i did have some sleepers as well, but the majority was day cabs.

 

I'm out twice a week and get put up in a hotel. I like it. Drop the trailer at the building, bobtail over to the hotel, take a shower, not worry about where I'm parked.....lol

 

the one thing i DID NOT like at the motel in Richmond was, the owner a korean man, would go around banging on all the doors...he did that (he claimed) to make sure his workers (maids?) were not taking naps..but the SOB would wake me up, as well as any other drivers from my company...lol


one day, i was waiting for him..i could see out the windows, from behind the drapes..he goes to knock on MY door, i swing it open and had a plastic drinking glass in my hand, (he must have thought it was real glass) and scared the crap outta him...

no more knocking....he would THEN check with the front desk, as to who was in what rooms.....lol

this by the way was WAY AFTER i complained to my safety manager AND the VP of the company, who did very little for us....

 

I stay at a holiday inn express, it's really nice.

 

No, virginia did that to me. And because that stretch of 81 tickets so bad for anything they possibly can, everyone has to do stupid things to evade it. So put the blame where it belongs. If there are 300 trucks for 60 spots dumb things happen no matter how many magic rules folks like you wag in everyones nose. More municipal owned, truck only parking is the only cure. E-commerce is never shrinking.. The distribution centers are being built one on top the other. Local governments sell the permits abd collect the taxes from the DCs.. They need to provide the parking it will need.

Those "fools".. other humans trying to earn a living too.. may well have been corralled into that truck stop by the exact same trooper. I pleaded, he forced me into it.

 

Well, maybe some day you should try living in a truck with no option given for a hotel and no concern by your employer about where, how or even if you get any sleep whatsoever.

 

i am happily retired...i did my time...now do yours.

 

Oh i will. Someones gotta fund your SS benefits. Sit back and have one on me.
