Regarding military, Im deaf. In America that's it. Out. Great.
Fast forward to about a decade ago, the state deaf school in Maryland had deployed a new ROTC Military with a handpicked group of 4 for the first run. They have to meet the standards you meet with one big exception hand signals.
I don't yet know if they are using battle talk with hands in the Military or American Sign Language off the instructor.
They are being so watched and inspected VERY CAREFULLY, it is possible for DOD to accept them in some form as Uniformed. Im not sure how that will work. In the IDF they use deaf in very specific work in two regiments, autusm and related disorders in another regiment to break codes etc and so forth. They are full uniformed with Commanders for them.
I spoke enough. Im tired of war and I think maybe I go to sea someday or maybe a deep forest somewhere west in the rockies and the rest of the USA can have at it. Peace and quiet is what i crave.
