Drowsy Driving, Zero Options

When I had 3 years OTR there were times when I tried various legal remedies to become more awake. No amount of coffee or soft drinks had any effect on my alertness, however they were all very effective at requiring a restroom break. The only thing I found that worked for brief periods was smoking a cigarette. As a non-smoker I didn't have 30 years of nicotine already in my blood and smoking gave a nicotine boost, followed by a raging headache. Both postponed my need for sleep. I don't know if the mouse sweat they sell to vapers works as well as a real cigarette.

I got woken up at council city bluff flying j or pee lot on 80. Idr, whatever it’s a #### hole.

Cop was going around waking up all 20 trucks who made their own spots out of the way because the lot was full. What a hero, so glad he kept me safe. -_-

 

and suppose there was a fire or medical emergency and the first responders could not get in, cuz fools were blocking the lot?


suppose a few drivers had to leave when thier break was up and could not get out?

the truck stop did the RIGHT THING by having to cop order people out

ignorance by "making a spot" is no excuse as well.

 

We weren’t blocking anything, a fire truck could get in there just fine as well as an entire circus.

It’s i80. There is no parking most times anywhere, so call the marshals to keep us safe from illegal parking. You’ll be busy there.

 

There is one hill with some acreage of field at the top good gravel supporting a church. The law likes to corral up there above the town.

Once in a great while I'll quietly coast into the place on air engine off nuetral and parking lights only. When they recognize me as local boy I'll get my sleep there. They just go right on doing whatever they do.

It's probably the last parking spot left in Maryland. Although some of them would like to ask me questions from back in the day.

 

Man reading this makes local delivery look so much better. I can pretty much stop anywhere the truck can fit and catch a few zzz if I need to without anyone bothering me.
