My system has been clean for months now. We have never had a problem with DOT. We have a 2002 ford f350 7.3 and a 3 car wedge with aluminum ramps and we took off the bed. Usually transport smaller cars and we are always under the weight limit

my opinion, marijuana should be treated like alcohol. just because the metabolites are present DOES NOT mean you are high the effects only last several hours. i smoked pre-CDL but when i got my CDL i realized that i would have to give this up. i was not a chronic smoker, someone who occasionally smoked weed. i DO NOT drink, even to this day i dont drink. i used to smoke weed because i feel its safer, less addictive, and does not make me want to throw up. well guess what i do now....... NOTHING. i am a trucker first. i enjoy driving, and if i wish to stay in that seat this is what i must do. did i start drinking because i can no longer smoke...... NOPE. i still hate drinking, i see all of the problems it creates; a town full of drunks, car accidents, domestic violence, and a few CDL holders i know of that are stuck at companies that are less then ideal. i have no use for alcohol...... absolutely none. i am 36 years old and have been drunk only once. i absolutely loath it.
i really do think the laws are wrong and should change YES, until such i time im not going to consume it. having it classified as a schedule I substance, that is by law worse then oxy cottin is absurd. however i dont write the rules, and if i wish to remain driving a CMV i have to follow the rules that exist. cannabis is an herb, not even a real drug. the laws are stupid but i dont write them.
i would vote to change all of this given the chance. alcohol is worse then pot. i am sympathetic to the cause, but really you have to place your priorities.
if i ever step out of trucking the first thing im going to do is smoke a bowl.Igmonsta Thanks this. -
For the record these tables I am posting mark the different regulations CMV's operate under. Remember the FMCSA considers ANY vehicle used in interstate commerce over 10,001 rated weight a CMV.
Igmonsta Thanks this. -
The actual requirements are "Towing a trailer or other vehicles with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more"
So, although the trail weighs 7k pounds, if the GVWR (the R is Rating, i.e. the max weight) you could get a DOT officer pushing the reg and you will be parking that vehicle until you get someone licensed to move it. Anyway, just something to be very sure of before you atart, And be sure, go talk to a state police officer, or even if you have a scale house in your area stop in one day (in your 4 wheeler car) and ask. -
i am also hopeful that if they legalize cannabis more reasonable guidelines and testing methods would be brought to bear that would allow you to consume a little on the weekend but drive on monday so long as you were completely 100 % sober. just like alcohol.
brings another point, why is that alcohol just about gets a free pass in our society, i think prohibition was a good idea...... except it created more problems then it fixed. same for marijuana, its nothing more then a prohibition that has created more problems then it fixed. except this prohibition has been going on for allot longer, say 70 some years. it is a substance that has existed for thousands of years but has only been illegal for less then a century.
its a failed prohibition policy. -
lagbrosdetmi and REO6205 Thank this.
