Good, we are in agreement.

LEOs know...ask any of them!!! Ask any attorney that deals with criminal cases....hell, ask the convicts....

I would never lump you in with anything....

Have you ever done mud wrestling? I did once, and it was a lot of fun, but I would not want to do it again.

It cracks me up that the Drug Test threads get so popular. Seems to me this is the reason to test people for drugs. Feel free to do whatever you want, but don't try to beat the system. If you want to do drugs, don't go into a line of work that is going to test you at random. Be a dispatcher or something, you just need to pass your pre-employment (if they do one), then you can be as high as you want on a regular basis. Heck it might even improve their relationship with their drivers.

Per the above link, I am pasting their findings:
"Data collected from male arrestees in 1998 in 35 cities showed that the percentage testing positive for any drug ranged from 42.5 percent in Anchorage, Alaska, to 78.7 percent in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Female arrestees testing positive ranged from 33.3 percent in Laredo, Texas, to 82.1 percent in New York, New York."

Thanks for the BS check....I need that from time to time. But hey, thanks for the link....no BS found.

Last time I checked, 82% was a higher percentage than the 80% I quoted. Obviously there is a range of percentages in the data. So let me correct my statement: "Up to 82% of crimes involve drugs" per the black and white statement from the government!!!

The LEO I spoke with was a 30 year veteran with the Cedar Falls, IA PD, and the University of Northern Iowa which has over 10,000 students is located in the city of Cedar Falls. The PD in Cedar Falls may be dealing with a higher incident of drugs than other cities due to the college students experimenting with drugs.

I don't see how gun laws can be compared to drug laws, unless you are talking about eating a bullet???

Well, I gotta go haul a load of milk to Indy.....

1. The report says;

The drug/crime relationship is difficult to quantify because:
Most crimes result from a variety of factors (personal, situational, cultural, economic); even when drugs are a cause, they are likely to be only one factor among many.
What is meant by "drug-related" varies from study to study; some studies interpret the mere presence of drugs as having causal relevance whereas other studies interpret the relationship more narrowly.
Reports by offenders about their drug use may exaggerate or minimize the relevance of drugs; drug-use measures, such as urinalysis that identifies only very recent drug use, are limited.

2. If the number is 33% in Laredo that's going to drop the overall % less than 80%

3. The report also says;

Trafficking in illicit drugs tends to be associated with the commission of violent crimes. Reasons for the relationship between drug trafficking and violence include the following:

•
[*]Competition for drug markets and customers.
[*]Disputes and rip-offs among individuals involved in the illegal drug market.
[*]The tendency toward violence of individuals who participate in drug trafficking.

In addition, locations in which street drug markets proliferate tend to be disadvantaged economically and socially; legal and social controls against violence in such areas tend to be ineffective.

If drugs were legalized, almost all of the above violent crimes would go away.

4. If you go to that link and look at Table 1, you will see that alcohol users are arrested at a higher rate than drug users in all categories of crimes except one. We tried making alcohol illegal, that worked about as well as making drugs illegal has.

You really need to do more than going into a study, pulling out one number and bending it to suit your opinion.

I have to go haul a load of lumber to LA.

You should have thought about the consequences (short & long term) prior to taking the illegal substances. Unlike the stock market, past behavior is a reasonable indicator of future performance.

Maybe for hard drugs, but usually not for weed.

I know a dentist with a beautiful ocean front practice. Anyway, he has a pretty sophisticated grown room at home
