Yeah that does sound strange with a&r. You could also check out autumn transport. They have pneumatic trailers too. Plastic is clean work. You can have an air leak and no mess. Starch and flour can get messy if you have a leak. How is the sand business in tx?

@ Chrome - Sand Business in Tx is really good; however everybody and their dog is trying to do it. All it is pretty much is over saturation, along with you don't really know who is is reputable and who is not.. That's the o'field trash business.! When I seen the A&R program @ a $whopppping $1.30/mile & $.65/miles empty; I thought WTF!

@ Last 1 - Thats what their page said! Their booking freight for around (prob) $2.00+ and want you deadhead for $.65.mile; talk about slave wages. Yes you are right, probably wont even cover fuel! Also; their booking freight for round trips, because your quite limited on what you can put in the cargo hold.

    Thank-Yall!

Yeah that sucks. figured a&r was better than that. Guess not! Sucks cause there aren't too many dry bulk carriers out there. If u can find the right outfit you can make good $. If I can think of anymore carriers I'll let you know. I think someone else mentioned Bruce Oakley out of Arkansas. I think they run plastic too along with other stuff. I'd stay away from lime, concrete, etc it's heavy and cheap

Thank-you Chrome.....I'm also a freight broker; however I'm looking to expand my revenue book of business to become an asset carrier. That's why I'm asking these types of questions. I might start off leased to someone; then work my own book of business.. No; not poaching customers from folks!

That's cool. It never hurts to broaden your capabilities. I enjoyed the bulk business when I was in it and may even go back one day. If you do decide to make the jump and install a blower look at the Gardner Denvers. You won't be disappointed in it:) the drum blowers look nice but when if you need that extra push gardners deliver

Chrome1216 -Yeah; I was wondering what kind of blower to look at as well. I'm stuck between Bulk and flat/step-deck. Still doing research though. I totally enjoy reefer however; it's getting to be not worth it, in terms of Rev. I like doing LTL, its just hard to come by, and you have to know how to route yourself properly. Like I said, still doing research and I appreciate your's and everyones feedback.

Try Frontier Logistics Barbours Cut & South 16th St, LaPorte, TX 800-610-6808. Talk to Chuck Garrison. You will need a blower on your truck for either A&R or Frontier, you will not find many customers on the bulk plastic side that have there own blowers for unloading.

Go for the blower, set up to vacuum so you can load and unload.

Plastic loads run 45K to 49K; we used to take the railcar load weight and divide by (4) and shoot for that number to clean the car every time.

Plastic is cleaner work than powders but easy to contaminate when changing products and you can get things too hot making streamers. angel hair & X-mas ornaments out of the partially melted polymer.
