had a section replaced in my Wabash about 4 years ago cost about 800 bucks seemed reasonable to me - so I vote yes to plate trailers

I have regular 2014 utility 4000 DX Composite dry van. you may think it has composite(plastic) lined walls inside but it does not. the wall has 3 layers-outside skin, inside metal panels and foam between . so composite does not mean plastic lined I guess.
before this utility I had trailmobile advantage and that was 100% plastic lined inside. logistic posts every 12 inches and plastic panels up to the roofLast edited: Aug 29, 2015

That's how they save weight and why they call it composite then. They used to put plywood between the metal. You can buy door blanks with either the composite inbetween or plywood and there is a big difference in the weight. Dane SSL's still put plywood behind the metal. On mine it is actual plastic like panels inbetween the logistics posts. On the Hyundai I have seen they line the spaces between the posts with a similar plastic material. Wabash uses some kind of composite material.

the trailer is lightweight. I have 2-3 damaged areas inside on wall. I can see that foam inside. the good thing is from outside wall is straight and no hit area is seen.Last edited: Aug 29, 2015
