I think forklift rating would be a good number to use, provided the load is over the kingpin plate or the tandem slide rails. That would most directly transfer the load to the undercarriage without overloading the rest of the structure. I'm sure most of us have seen the skin ripples that show when too much load is in the center of the trailer forcing the monocoque to transfer the load.

I just learned a new word - monocoque. I can't pronounce it and certainly will never spell it correctly, but it's a new word, so thank you.

    Just googled it.

The problem I'm having with pronunciation and spelling is I'm dyslexic, so spelling most words can be challenging, moreso when vowel to constanent ratio goes more than 1:1. Words like diesel I NEVER get correct without looking them up. And forget trying to use me as a proof reader - my mind sees the word without registering spelling.

As to pronunciation - syllables are a mystery to me. I remember having a meltdown in kindergarten when the teacher was trying to have me use phonics to sound out a word. I always ended up with one more or less syllable than I should have.

Content and meaning - no problem. Spelling and pronunciation- whoa boy.

But how do you say mono? "Mon o" or "mo no"? Seems like a dumb question, but the way my mind processes things, it can be an earnest inquiry.

They way my mind processed Monocoque:
    • Mo knock wa
    • Mon oc u wa
    • Mon oco Kay
    • Mon Kay (yep, lost some syllables for a bit)
    • Mo no coke
    • Mo no quay
    • Mono coke
    • Mono kway
    • Mono Kwak
    • Mono coke - final answer
When I read words like monocoque my mind just substitutes the definition. When I try and read the word out loud I tend to slur my way through it. And sometimes I just look at the word and think "what unloved mothers son thought this up?"

    Numb and Hammer166 Thank this.

Tire loads will show that really well. The rows of Laces put pressure on the walls and push them outwards pulling up on edges of the floor. On a plate side trailer the walls can be bulged out 6 inches on each side looking like its gonna burst open. Do that enough times and it will be a permanent shape.

Back when I was a doorslammer, diapers were the worst. They weren't supposed to be loaded in can vans, but occasionally were... those trailers looked 10 psi overinflated. LOL
