I am a new driver for A&R in Ca after hauling liquid (milk) for 13 years. I will say that dry bulk is better driving because no constant surge and beating you to death. Loading dry bulk is pretty physical and hard , hell of a lot more to it than putting up hose or pulling one out !! Unless you get lucky and get a top load, 90% of the time you will vacuum load out of a rail car. I have been lucky so far with A&R in that I run dedicated Mon thru Fri with weekends off and home every night but that's not the case for everyone. This job at times is very easy and at times very hard and physical, but I like the challenge and the fact that it is specialized. They have lots of local work at all the terminals or you can go otr, lots of choices. I run 470 miles a day 5 days a week and gross right at $1300 a week.
Dry vs Liquid?

I am sure every terminal that A&R has is different. I will tell you that you do not want to work at the Fort Worth terminal, I was there a little over a year. had to leave because the money was not there. The only ones making money are the ex Bulkmatic drivers that came over with the former Bulkmatic dispatcher. I did local, regional and ran the system trying to find the best way to make money and none of them worked. The best check I had was when I went to Morris for training. You can shoot me a message on here if you like and I can get you in contact with several drivers there besides the circle of ex Bulkmatic drivers. I will tell you they do have great benefits but you will not make very good money out of Fort Worth. I really enjoyed the work and the equipment but something here needs to change.

I received a call from CC Cob this morning, interested to learn more about them.

ethos, here is one of a large "family" of carriers that I'm getting very interested in. They have both liquid and dry, regional and OTR. I'm on the north side of DFW by the way.
