hello there,can anyone tell me if possible to remove DT466 engine from 2002 4300 truck without taking off the cab?or do you atleast have to lift the cab a little?can not figure out what the lift bar would look like to hook in rear lift eye to lift out the engine.We do not normal work on this size truck as other fleet so mostly 1 ton step vans thanks for any help

Yah, they are shoe-horned in there pretty good. It has been a while since we pulled one out. You will have to pull the wiper arms, wiper cowl and wiper linkage off so you are basically all the way to the windshield and firewall. Pull the tranny out the normal way. I think we used to use a floor jack to support the rear of engine at the back of the oil pan/flywheel housing and had the chain falls holding the front the engine and kinda rolled it forward on the jack enough to get the chain on at the back too.

But no, never had to remove a cab.

I've removed a few, If the engine is junk, pulling the head is a very easy way to gain some overhead access. Most of the DT's iIve removed were because of cam bearing failures. So removing the head wasn't a big deal. Once the head was off, i used a chain connected to the engine deck in the headbolt holes. If you cannot remove the head, its tight for sure, can barely get the valve cover off on some of em ><
