I read it in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram newspaper (tells you how long ago it was) probably 30 years ago now. And like all newspapers ever it never actually gave the results, just the arrest.
I've went and looked in the last few years, but as this was pre-internet I've not found anything.

I can assure you it had nothing to do with money.
When I was a kid it was common for them to either follow you home or load you up and take you home, just depending on how drunk you were. then along come mad, and everything changed in a short period of time.

    homeskillet and dwells40 Thank this.

I remember George Jones getting one on his riding lawnmower.

Well, I for one would be very interested to know whether or not there was a “guilty” verdict handed down for “drinking while working on a boat”.

    ZVar Thanks this.

Like I said, I looked and never found anything. Not that I agree, but I think the logic is "You are drunk, it's a vehicle and you are on it."
Of course it just as much could have been a neighbor was a cop or knew the cop in that town and had a past with them. That kind of harassment was not uncommon when I was younger.

Well I had them take me home when I was a kid, and it sure wasn't because I was loaded, with money that is. I know of it happening several times and we are talking poor folks, back then if you had money you could beat a dui everytime, now not so much. I know of people that have spent in excess of 30 grand and still found guilty.

    Roadgeek395 and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
