You and your small towns...
Go drive through LA, it's a dang refugee camp tent city
Not a few oddballs sipping 40s and shooting up under the overpass, but countless thousands of people
Problem's real
PS people with a vehicular option won't go to no shelters. They got epidemics of scabies and typhoid fever and #### rolling through... and no locking doors between you and the rapey diseased zombie lunatics.
Uhm yeah great idea

LOL I knew a foreman fora construction company that had a company pickup, cellphone, personal cell phone and his personal crew of lumpers, that lived in a homeless shelter for years, instead of paying rent.
You show me anywhere in the country a woman has no options, maybe not in small towns, but it is never far to some kind of help.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
I'm no expert here. But I do remember listening to a radio program when I was younger, one of the people hosting was an addiction medical specialist. He owns a hospital in San Bernardino somewhere east of LA and often comments the structures in place for addiction recovery are inadequate, even for people who are insured. Insurance companies look at people who have been clean for a month and say that's it, these people are clean, there is no more need for us to continue funding their stay. But the doctor argues that one month clean is not enough. Its enough to break bad habits not addiction. So as a result these people get pushed out of the hospital safe structures and back into the world before they are ready.faux_maestro Thanks this.

There is probably some truth to that, but I take a lot of that kind of stuff with a grain of salt.
there is no one size fits all when dealing with humans, one may be done in a month, while the next one will not be done or even close to it in 10 years.
There is always plenty of people looking for an excuse for them thoughFlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
There are definitely people looking to abuse a system in place, always. I understand why an insurance company would be skeptical and want to cut off funding.
This doctor wrote a booked called "Cracked" I read it early last decade. Its not a numbers book it's very emotionally-charged detailing some of his experiences running an addiction recovery hospital.
I really don't know what can be done better, if anything. I'm only typing what I learned from this doctor whose book I read. Maybe nothing can be done better, I don't know. He just argues from experience 1 month is not enough in his experience but that's when insurance companies want to cut off funding.
Sorry, theres multiple books called Cracked:
