I would contact local outfits, construction and such. Some will lease you on or would be willing to use your services if you have your own authority. That is where I would start. I was looking into getting a dump, and that is where I started up here in Detroit. I stuck with automotive, the dump guys still call to see if I am available.

What are you doing now? Are you in that field as say a driver? If so, I am sure you work with or around other dump/construction outfits. I would ask around and pick some brains. I have a friend up in VA that owns his own dump, he is doing pretty good from the sounds of it.

As far as i know. A truck and your own authority. And some connections.

In utah. There used to be a broker. Don't know how it's done these days since the recession. I see a lot of new companies since i hauled dirt. And a lot of old companies that disappeared.

I know around here (in Colorado) there are a couple of brokers that will help you with loads. My buddy is running a straight body dump and making good money. He said $70-$75 an hour. I know Houston has a lot of work from the hurricane clean up. I had a call from a broker and I think it was paying around $60/hr for belly dump.

You will need your own authority and insurance with a 750K general liability... I am a private hauler right now but I looked into getting my own authority with how strong dump rates are right now.
