Ok, still doesn’t change the fact that you were providing incorrect information about the valve operation or the fact that a manufacturer won’t install them doesn’t make them illegal. And don’t worry I do just fine getting around.

I know Western and Wilson deliver new trailers with factory installed dump valves. I pulled my first spread in 1977, been pulling them regularly ever since. If it didn't have a dump valve when I got it, it got one shortly, never been questioned at any scale.

Cab controlled dumps are not illegal, I.e. drive susp dump, or trailer. Being able lift or lower axke is not illegal. Being able to control downward psi from cab, in a effort to cheat a scale is however illegal. Can a rear dump be used to cheat? Bet your ###, is it intended for that? No.

It is only illegal when used in a manor to cheat or defraud weight and measurement law.

The manufactures might not do it due to they don't want warrenty issuse. I dont know of one that will factory build a air spring air cheater spread anymore. But that don't make the illegal. The for the electrical short statement? How is this any different than a ABS shorted out, or lights shorted out. That null and void.

Yep dad in the day had 2 100's on his lead, 2 100's on the pup of a 5-9's Atrain. With pusher box on frame to nose of lead. three sloan valve levers on the right of the driver seat. But to hear about years before that, keeping sliding tandems and fifthwheel greased to slide them on the go, Or the bottle jack under nose of trailer. He told me he only forgot to put rope on the jack once. Slide it toghether and lost a jack. I asked and no he didn't go back to get it.SAR, PoleCrusher, cke and 2 others Thank this. -

How’d the rope n jack work?SAR, PoleCrusher, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
Jack up nose of trailer from 5th wheel plate. Once tractor crossed scalea tap the brakes so 5th wheel slide forward putting more weight on tractor. 5th wheel knocks jack out on of the plate. Rope used to catch jack!SAR, PoleCrusher, cke and 2 others Thank this.
