You say but still, too many are using the route. Do you pull them over and ask to see whether or not they are permitted? Of course not..So you don't really know.
The empty trucks coming out signed and flagged are oversize trailers that require an empty permit.
Our big trailers need a permit anytime they move, loaded or empty.

We got into every little street possible in Baltimore with a big truck, I did not care how small it was, if the truck would fit (With the exception of say St Lo which is a shortcut across a park near 33rd to Hartford, some of which itself is made up of arch bridges built hundred years ago...)
I think Baltimore is beginning to be fed up with big trucks getting into everything (Federal Hill, Thames Street etc comes to mind...) and are finding it a revenue source to enforce it.
It's a shame to me when all of those old routes and street names, almost as familiar as the spouse to me with a big truck way back when is banned now or threatened with fines and enforcement these days. Im just as happy i don't live there and have to deal with it. There is a whole lot of problems in the area that has been accumulating since essentially the Civil War time that needs fixing, and will never be.
When I purchase olive oil for purposes of making spagetti etc I think of the facility that probably processed some of it off a ship now and then or at least a TONU Tanker of 20 foot etc from overseas where the olive trees are. It's probably still there not far from the Baltimore Plaza Truckstop.
There is one minor problem and that is the Tunnel Authority Police. From time to time Ive been run down to be checked as to why the container for example does not have tail lights, stop lights or turn signals back there. When they see the rag on the pigtail between the container and tractor that I put on there. I knew there was a problem with it and tried to fix it. No ticket that time. But if there was something to ticket for, Im pretty sure they will love to write tickets. Write write write.
I was going to keep a couple so that I can staple them to the coffin of any of the area Law that finally died and buried. I obviously never did get around to do something like that. But it would have been pretty outrageous. Take the old faded citation out and staple the thing click click click to the wood. Maybe if enough of us did that covering the thing in citations, he can take it up with the Good lord why he committed all those sins of writing outrageous tickets.
See how I get into trouble with my big mouth sometimes? Im just glad I don't put up with that silly stuff anymore out of there.
Im just sad to see all those streets being posted as not valid for big trucks. Before there was trucks steam engines used to bring all sorts of rail cars with for example news print to the Baltimore Sun, which used to sit where the old Mechanic Theater complex itself used to sit. I think it's gone now replaced by something else entirely. Lord knows it's old enough.
If they don't watch it, the people will be gone too. Then there will be a city of nobody. Because no one will be living there.DSK333 Thanks this. -
I'm guessing you can't tell the difference as you pass them by
I'm sure there are guys that run the route and don't need a permit. Those guys will end up paying the man. -
