My .02 worth : My Dell latitude E1505 with Windows 7 has given me more probs than my other 2 combined ! Constantly freezes up,only thing to do is restart the #$%@ thing Some days 3-4 times. Rite now the charge port seems to be screwed up will only take charge if cord held certain way[try doing that going down the road]. Dell says new motherboard[ $325 + shippinjg] after sending me 2 new daughterboards. Plug in new motherboard and WTF charge lite is blinking unauthorised charger ??? My next one will be a Toughbook.............

I have a small computer repair center inside a truck stop in NC for truckers. I see think pads hold up well and HP does descent. The biggest thing I see is the placement of the AC adapter plugs. I'm guessing you guys are using them on the wheel? The AC jack on the inside of the computer becomes broken and needs to be resoildered.

Probably in a laptop stand. Only on the wheel when they are shut down. Not while driving.

If you are at Kenly, you have 3 major truck stops there. Why not walk out to the drivers truck to see if you can come up with a solution for the connection?

It would be nice if the computer companies made the AC cord to the computer like the IBM side. Able to plug it in the power supply part of the cable. Thus if the cable becomes broken they can replace the cable instead of the entire AC cord.

I have not seen any AC connector that is build to withstand the use of plugging and unplugging.
