Not for me! First 3 years I put one set of Volvo dealership batteries in my truck every year. They were cheap but didn't last but a year. These were all 'Volvo dealership' batteries but weren't the exact same battery every time I bought them. This is also with the truck plugged in on trickle charge every weekend.

Then I switched to AGM/starting batteries from Oreilly's 3 years ago. I had made up my mind I was going to try AGM's but wanted ones made by East Penn/DEKA no matter what. I did the research and at that time Oreilly's AGM starting batteries were East Penn.

They have been going strong for over 3 years, I'm into my 4th year with them. I trickle charge them all weekend every weekend and clean the terminals and bus bars maybe once a year.

I paid about $200 per for them 3 years ago.

Probably because they cost about a grand each and suck in cold weather.

Leak works just fine in cold.

If you look at the freeze chart. A fully charged lead has a freeze point of -60*

That's got to be the most generalized and false statement I've ever read. A grand for what size? What brand? What specs? Define cold weather?

My APU is homemade with 560ah of lithium under my passenger bunk. They have never shut down due to cold. There are remedies for this anyway, heating pads as well as batteries with internal heaters.

My basic 280ah ones, no bluetooth or heating, were $699 but are now 399 less than a year later.

The guy I quoted was talking about Battle Born Batteries. There are cheaper options and if they need heaters , obviously they do struggle in cold weather.
