The discs you buy to burn with are always of a lessor quality then the one's you buy with data already on them IE: Music CD or Movie DVD, Run your hand around the front and back edge of a burnable CD/DVD and then say a Disney DVD... You'll see what I mean.
Your lens in your DVD player might be dirty, If you are able to take off the top to clean it hand I would do that... Use a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol( make sure the Q-tip is completely drenched) then rub it on the lens in small circular movements...
You can yous one of those CD disc cleaner, but IMO they are just a waste of money. They cost between $10 & $20 dollars and they only provide enough of the solution(water down rubbing alcohol, by the way) to maybe use it ten times... If your lucky!
OBTW, it should go without saying that the above practice SHOULD NEVER BE USED ON A DVD OR CD DRIVE FOR A COMPUTER you open one of those bad boys up and you are just asking for trouble... So enter at your own risk...lol
Hope this helps! -
The DVD's are not dirty or scratched. I know they aren't the same quality as what the big guys use! They get too big of a price break! I may just gradually replace with new ones from the store. My youngest doesn't like me doing it anyway!

convertxtodvd is the best i have found if you have movies that wont copy any other way you can use alcohol120 to burn an image of that disc to another which will bypass and copyright safety

Lilbit
try using Verbatim dvd's. They are really good and you can buy them online or from BestBuy. I catch them on sale at BestBuy for $13.00 for 50 pack. If you try them you won't ever use anything else. I can burn 500 disc and maybe get 1 or 2 bad ones. -
Thanks, Smurf! I'll keep that in mind! I don't think that's what I had.

TWO programs come to mind:
DVD Decrypter for removing copy protection and then any other DVD copy program to burn a copy, OR convert to AVI/MPEG/WMV with Handbrake -
