#16 - Make sure your trailer is level when loading/unloading. It is amazing how much equipment can walk to the side when not level, especially heavy and wide rubber tire equipment like scrapers, loaders, and articulated haul trucks.

 

Not to mention the rollers jumping off the ramps when you attempt to pick the trailer up again

 

#17 when on a 2 lane, yield to the bigger load. Helps the big guys out tremendously by block all traffic behind you.

#18 Keep your "ears" on. There are lots of trucks that will be courteous to you because you're OSOW, and tell you things that you need to know...especially flatbed drivers. This is especially the case on the two lane.

 

In line with the add 10% to the given weight...

Take your own measurements...regardless of the manufactures specs or sites like Ritchie's. It's your load, your responsibility.

 

LOL yep. Picked up a grader one day. Was supposed to be something like 9'8" and it turned out to be 10'4". It was the difference in running in the dark and having to stay put.

 

When loading at Dundalk, MD in January and delivering to North Bay, ON put some anti gel in the tank when you load it.
