no ezpass? theres no flippin way id work there, been there done that and the tolls are too high to be paid with MY cash and then wait for reimbursement. along the pa turnpike its over 50 cents a mile, right? tolls in indiana, ohio are way up and only going higher! going across the GW will be over 100$ if using cash.
theyre not using my bank account as a way for them to hold onto their cash longer, and then decide whether or not they will reimburse me. if my company wanted to go back to cash reimburse id tell them to go **** themselves.
if you take home 1000 and you spend 300-400 in tolls which is easy to do if out east (ive done it b4 we used ezpass,at lower toll rates)
thats 40% of that weeks take-home. and then youre at their mercy for them refunding that amount, which WILL happen 99%-100% of the time depending on company, my problem with it is that its a large percentage of your weekly budget...i would bring 1k with me for a given month out,and there were a few times id have to get money out of the atm because i never took cash advances. if anything they should pay extra for that bs, it was more slave labor, they were using my money after they paid me the money, for free. -
i doubt they will be useing something that driver freindly, i can only hope lol. I'm assuming it will be either the PeopleNet or Quailcomm elog/QC
. I hope they speed the trucks up to make up for the elogs.
I have 144,000+ miles logged on my GPS in this truck, i'm governed at 68mph, my average speed over the 144K miles is 65mph!
And i dont speed, then again i dont have straps and chains that i have to stop and check a couple times a day.
I think im going to cross my fingers and hope for the best and try them out. Worst case i screw myself out of a job and i can always go work a McD's right

it'll never happen, you'll see a for sale sign out front before they pay for e-logs
i know .42cpm is a BIG deciding factor here......arg stupid e-logs makeing this a hard decision lol
American Trucker -
ya im not to thrilled about that either, but .42cpm at 22 years old and getting in with a company that does heavy haul and ALLOT of it, and even training me i dont think i can say no to this.
I REALLY dont wanna pay tolls but i'm hopeing i dont run to much up that way lol, they are outta TX.

your present company Exceeded the mandatory threshold for compliance, its not a "if thing" it is a "for sure",,its not like they will have a choice,Man WS #'s are deplorable,,,they wont have a option other than ELOGS

AT, all the worries are valid for VANS but flatbedding is a different world. For the most part shippers and recvr's are happy to see you. Issue with hours because of a long loading time (and it does happen with flats)? No problem, just talk to one of the many smiling faces that are around and they will work with you. And I'm not being sarcastic. It is night and day compared to the crape you have to deal with now.
If I had to choose between van wtih paper logs vs. flats with elogs, I would get my R2D2 on and run to the elogs.
Not to mention that once you have a year of flat under your belt you can move to a company that doesn't have them and pays even better than $.42/mile.
And I'm against these things. I see how it makes drivers with some of the mega carriers that are racing the clock unsafe and as an O/O with drivers leased to me I see it as an expense that has no safety value. But if they gave them to me then no problem.
Best of luckInjun and American-Trucker Thank this. -
AT, to answer your initial question, E-Logs will not by themselves break your check. That's the simple answer.
ECU, are you a sales rep for Qualcomm or PeopleNet? Maybe an office worker whose bread and butter is implementing this system? I'm starting to not trust you.volvodriver01 and American-Trucker Thank this. -
Yes i can read, i've seen our scores, thats a recent thing a year ago they were quite good, not sure what happened
its takes allot more then to exceed the limit to be forced on e-logs. and like i said i've been told e-logs will never happen. What that means i dont know.
American Truckervolvodriver01 Thanks this. -
if you go on people net I can get you an interactive slide show so you can get used to it. Or just an instructional one so you can get the feel of it.
American-Trucker Thanks this.
