I don’t know how Florida works, but in Jersey you can schedule your test with dmv and go take it. No charge.

All done thru the state dmv.

If that’s the case in Fl as well, why not just schedule it for your next home time & run the company truck down to retest. Since you are not currently restricted, you wouldn’t need another licensed driver riding shot gun to the dmv with you

I got my permit in 2008, drove for Lowe's intrastate for about a year 1/2 as a delivery driver, then when I actually did turn 21 I went to a local school and paid to finish... I tested out in manual and took class in manual so yea it does matter how you test out... Everything will be ok dude... Just go tomorrow morning and figure everything out... No need to panic!

No because they hear their buddy Earl makes $85,059695965659 a year hauling crap to the ocean and they wanna do it too... Thats why you end up seeing them in the ditch... Safety comes last to this generation of truckers..

I agree but it doesn’t matter much. With an air brake restriction he won’t be driving anything with a non synchronized transmission anyway.

I wonder how far back they are doing this manual restriction and retest? I took my test in 2015 in an auto and have no restriction. Have been driving nothing but manuals since for three years now. I probably couldn’t pass their test in a manual as I hear you can’t float. I can’t shift without floating.

Mind letting the class know where in the FL CDL manual it's at? Here is the link.

Might want to educate yourself before being derisive to others.

True, but he could retest on an air brake truck with an auto and end up with a full CDL

oh.... I see Zvar, but I am right .... it is supposed to be there but it isn't in Florida's because Florida omitted it ... the CDL manuals are supposed to have the same info in all of them about the CDL including the restrictions, this is an FMCSA thing forcing the states to make the license uniform <<<< source FMCSA.

I just checked a few including our Michigan cdl manual that has the restrictions in them - Page 8 in the link below.

I would have to check the other 45 that I have somewhere on the computer to see where they are missing but I do have the FMCSA template for the states to use, and it is there just like it is in Michigan's. The FMCSA says use that and make some modifications to fit the state's needs but not omissions on key info.

    https://www.michigan.gov/documents/cdlmanul_16090_7.pdf

My apologizes to the OP, but still there is a need to fix this with proper training of instructors, it seems a lot of them make up crap to tell you newbies.
