Is there a difference between an APU and an EPU? I've seen both terms here.

All lease operators should do this, including me, you read the horror stories of drivers going to a lease company, and needing to pay bills using their advances, they come to lease a truck and are broke. Not everyone may have 10k in the bank, but you need something to fall back on, not just your last check from the company you just left. Good advice fr8ht Monkey.

One is electronic, running off a set of four batteries, and the other runs off a diesel engine.

Well I'm not sure yet what this is considered I did get what was called layover pay for my first weekend (Easter) coz they couldn't find anything for me to pull.this case I wasn't sure exactly what happened in communication between broker and my new ops mgr until he assured me he has the broker dead to rights lying about del time have emails that show he said Thursday OR Friday 6-11 am then sent the rate con that said Thursday 6 am and it wasn't legally possible! Promised to get a new time but never did! So breach of contract? Contract between eagle and broker I don't know yet

Strange. As a rule, getting set up with new brokers takes a long detour through the legal department. It's not as simple as "Just sign our carrier agreement" because those contracts favor the broker pretty heavily. Eagle doesn't have to give them everything they demand, so it takes longer.

Yeah, pretty true unfortunately. That's sort of up to the OM and his/her management style, but there are definitely drivers that aren't getting the help they need.

Not yet. Hazmat is the first one that will help you once the insurance gets expanded (no timetable on that though)

Yeah again, that really depends on the OM. Some are very hands on in their teaching, some...less so. The info is there though, so if you aren't getting the answers you need, ask to speak to someone else (or just call the general line at the Indy terminal).

Learning some things on your own can be helpful, as it serves to make a longer-lasting impression, but yeah, learning everything on your own isn't fun.

I wish everyone understood that trucking, like literally every other job in the world, requires an initial investment to start.

Now, with Eagle, it's not necessarily that you'll need a down payment to start (you won't), but you do need capital to fund yourself if you have a bad week/break down.

If I had the ability, I'd tell every new driver at Eagle to only start if they had at least 3 months worth of bills and living expenses saved up. That way, should they run into any bad luck to start out, they're covered.

For anyone jumping from one job to another, that should be the rule, but common sense is regrettably uncommon, so there will always be issues.

Anybody ever haul a 44,500lb load with a lonestar lol. I'm definitely overweight but don't have to run over any scales.

    fr8monkey Thanks this.

Just out of curiosity what does the sticker inside the door of your lonestar say it weighs? I had a big dispute with some guy there in orientation coz I swore it was closer to 20,000 lbs than 17,000 ...I have a Kenworth and im hauling 45000 today
