Im past 50, T1 through T12 is through. I spend my days waiting for the dreaded snap. But then again I don't sit around waiting for the worst. That is the big reason Im through and not on the big road. Considering where I was at 20 and looking at a life time possibly of becoming old like Mr Adams from School days who is like God's Truck instructor from Moses Time. And a fearsome old man to boot with his theatrical command style of roaring at students. He was still driving into his 70's and I made it to almost the mid 40's I cannot complain.
As I wound down my late years I ended up doing auction truck sales as a crew boss using my knowledge of old iron to teach the new CDL holders in the crew how to shift a manual enough to get to the barn and back and the old ones how to run the push button automatic. Then there is the one who always dries up his tanks while warming requiring either a resuscitation of the three fuel filters with fresh fuel or a replacement of same. The actual doing was not hard on my back at all. It was good for a few years yet. I might still get back into doing that part time once I resolve my fuel economy challenge where I make more in net pay for the day's wage than I spend in gas to and from the work place.

2) dry van, with no touching of freight
3) shuttle runs swapping out trailers (some would be found at food warehouses) usually running a turnpike from swap yard to swap yard (this is done a lot up here)
4) yard jockey, you move trailers all day long
but be forewarned, many of US ARE OLD, and we've done our time, so we may be your competition for those jobs.cx4tz, x1Heavy, tman78 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Like David sez ( Simpson, eh?) doesn't get much easier than drop and hook line haul. ( take 1 or 2 trailers to the same place, drop, hook and come back) I suppose a tanker is pretty easy, if you can schlep the hose around, or stock pile with a dump truck is pretty easy too, yet incredibly boring. If you find the ideal trucking job, let me know. I've been looking for 35 years.
