Holy Crap some of you guys need an education in the real world.

How many of you other than Crankee Yankee have ever gone out there and fended for them selves against the real world .

PS What Crankee Yankee used to do for a living Day in and day out would make most of these people throw the towel in after the 1st week.if they made it that long.

BadAZZ my friends. There is no pulling over and resting in the middle of the SEA.

And if you lose Propulsion or your generators, life is not good in a big big way suddenly.

There are far too many variables to remotely answer this question. A driver can get top notch super training and if they are not a match for the industry.. the best training is irrelevant. A driver who gets very basic training can make themselves a success as a professional driver. It is not the school that makes the driver! It is the driver's interest in learning about they're profession, the regulations that govern them, their equipment and its PROPER use and many other factors. ALL training at the front is almost universal as most of it is set up for a driver to obtain a CDL license. After that its all time fillers.. Drivers who go to smaller less intensive training usually end up on the road plying their trade sooner in real world than their counterparts who want extended training for weeks and even months. During this time, the drivers who got the shorter training are SEEING what their new career holds in store (good and definitely the bad) and have started to make their way. There is really NO bad or wasted training.. but you have to see the training as the way in. Its darned sure not going to teach you much about anything in the real world. The training companies are a bigger issue than the schools have EVER been. The training for the industry is generally poor and slipshod.

In my opinion the best training involves a certified school with min 4 weeks. Your own school not the company that’s hiring you.

Then going a “starting company” with more training. This company will have minimum 2 weeks intense orientation/skills learning and then minimum 3 weeks onboard a trainers truck.

After training the starting company puts you in your own truck. During your first year on this truck you will have constant contact with a mentor or veteran driver to answer 1million questions you will have.

This is my formula on the “best” CDL training.

In a perfect world, companies would require about 6 months as a co-driver with an experienced mentor before testing you out for a solo position. Unfortunately this isn't a perfect world...

I had enough after 3 weeks. Its also an exercise in patience and tolerance for both people.

True enough, I will admit: even two best friends will eventually get on each others' nerves after a period of sharing a space not much bigger than most people's walk-in closets...

I was beginning to wonder myself.

Moving from Maryland to Arkansas involved a half hour surrendering one CDL and minting a new one after passing the required testing and vision. I think that took about a hour max. No roadtrip needed for grandfathered drivers who are going out with a employer under dispatch.

That and 30 dollars fee. It could not be easier.

Wife and I are a testament to being able to not kill one another in that small space. We had certain hard rules that took care of the big domestics before it had a chance to catch fire and burn inferno. One example was if one was driving and the other cannot stop being angry that one goes into the sleeper and closes the curtain. Peace and quiet is required for however many hours or days needed to be right again emotionally and mentally. Oh by the way you will be driving 600 miles later on when my 10 hours is up. You needed to be mentally straight by the start of your shift.

Putting aside problems, arguments etc and made into a list on a ledger pad to be solved over a dinner date later that week made for some diplomatic breakthroughs, whereas we would have simply got out the iron skillet or something else and started beating the problem out of each other... That would not be good.
