There's several truck driving schools in Phoenix; the most well known one is Southwest Truck Driver Training:
2323 S. 51st Ave.
Phoenix, AZ 85043
Probably a dozen or more companies will hire you at graduation.
If you want to run the roads, look at these:
Freymiller - their "Restore Program" is for new cdl grads.
Navajo Express
Britton Transport
Danny Herman Trucking
Pride Transport
Local/regional:
Mountain Valley Express
McLane Foodservice
Mondelez Global
Pacific Seafood

Was just talking to a rep from Jim Palmer. Guessing Wil Trans put me over to them because of where I live. Anyway... Telling this rep how I was older. Dealt with age discrimination. But the opposite on Trucking. He kinda got quiet. Like he was worrying about age. Then I told him I'm 57. His response; Oh Gee! You're young!TravR1 Thanks this. -
In TN, they don't check you past driving record or anything like that and you don't have to go to school. If you can pass the test, you get your CDL. You still have to be able to drive to pass the test though, you just don't have to go to school if you can learn from other means.

Swift has been calling me trying to get me in there, I have to get past divorce court first, where should I go? School or company training?

How is your money situation?
Lots of knowledgeable people here to help you.
I know that swift trucks don’t have many driver comforts. But they will pay for your schooling. -
Missouri is kinda like Tennessee I guess, if you can pass the written and road test you get a CDL. All you have to do is study the book (memorize it) and come up with a truck and trailer, doesn't even have to be full size as long as it has air brakes. I took my test back in 2010 after letting my license go back to regular operator for several years in a dump truck with a tilt bed trailer...LOL! Had a pintal hitch! They changed that rule since, now they want to see a fifth wheel and now it makes a difference if it's an automatic or not... But no, school is not a requirement for the law just with insurance companies..Insurance companies say school/training program or experience... So many things about the regulation of our industry are actually insurance company regs, not actual laws.
We got a guy locally who says he can get you to pass the test in one day and he supplies the truck and trailer.. Charges $450.. Guy is making bank money and the State does the test..Wonder how he makes the guarantee work for some...
