A six year old accident resulting in a death will not show up on the safestat score as it's out of date. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband and a Retired Marine, but I'm going to have to say that this is slightly out of date and might not be applicable to Eastern Engineered Wood Products of today in time, as they might have cleaned up their act since the loss of your husband. You also have to realize that the dead have no say in a investigation unless there was data pulled from the ECM of the truck disputing eyewitness and physical evidence left at the accident site. The ones alive are who can say anything they want as long as they keep singing the same song to investigators. I'm sorry that it turned out the way it did but they might have even sued Eastern for damages and won.
You should be very careful about what you say this many years later there WidowW as you can be held responicable for anything you say in here if it bears noything right about this company. -
His accident was June 4,2004 and it happened in Staten Island New York. My husband lived for a week despite his grave injuries. He was brain dead from the start but because he had lost one of his eyes in the accident, the hospital could not do their typical test to pronounce someone brain dead, by looking and seeing the pupils reactions,in both eyes. He lingered for another week until the hospital finally found a way to pronounce him. Anyone who could live for a week despite his grave injuries is a testament to how much he wanted to live. He died June 11, 2004. Listen I didn't write on this board to
defend my husbands actions. For the life of me I cannot figure out why he would put his life at risk for $14.50 an hour, and forever be separated from a loving wife and two children. Though he wasn't the kind of man who thought about the worst case scenario, he just wanted to put food on the table, pay the bills, and support his family.I miss him soooo much. He was also a retired Marine. All I know is the police did a sloppy police investigation because one of the causers in this accident, his father was the retired fire marshall in Staten Island. I have a transcript from the trial we had in Brooklyn and the investigating officers saying how they "dropped the ball" when it came to investigating this accident. My husband took responsibility for driving that truck that day but the cause of the accident was not his, he kept his hands on that steering wheel until he could no longer hang on to it,and he paid the ultimate price for taking that load out that day. I think that was all anyone could ask. As far as EEWP having zero accidents resulting in death, your information is INCORRECT! My husband died on June 11, 2004 as a result of grave injuries he suffered while driving a truck for EEWP! His load sheered through his cab and there was nothing left of the cab! The accident happened in Staten Island on June 4, 2004. I can show you articles. Look it up in the archives.I will not be posting here anymore. Happy trails to all of you truck drivers out there. -
I am done posting here anyway. What's done is done I guess. But the injustices that transpired in this accident haunt me to this day. I will never forgive and my heart shall remain heavy until the day I die.
