We are hoping to be down there before winter but it all depends on if/when our house in Indiana sells.

back to the original post, I found this at the Sapp Bros in salt Lake today. Only $6 .... solves your problems.

Granted you'll hit your knuckles on the winch track when rolling it up lol

It does what the Op wanted it to do, without hooking up to electric and moving a big machine around the trailer. I guess it would work good with LONG winches. Mine are too short and I'd bust my hand against the winch track

I used to have a thing for a drill made to wind your straps up I bought it from Northern Tool a few years ago. Worked good.

But this new company I'm driving for does everything differently, no bulkheads on trailers, head board on the truck, under deck storage, and all aluminum trailers. But what I've never had to do is take my straps off after every load, wind them up and put them in the box. I've pulled a few loads but I hate winding the strap in the winch every time then undoing it all over. I've seen some guys do this thing where they take the slack up with their hands and don't wrap it all in the winch, can anyone tell me how tondo this?
