The flight sim can be used to see certain things, mostly the radio navigation stuff. I used one during Private training at times. The main problem with the flight sim is it is too easy to very dangerous stuff and not know it's very dangerous. I'll exaggerate to make a point. Imagine a teen with no driving experience using GTA Grand Theft Auto to learn to drive or practice. I'm not suggesting playing on the flight sim will ruin you. Using it without supervision while you are trying to learn to fly usuaully cements bad habits in your head and hands which you will have to pay someone to remove while you are paying $150/hour. For example when you want to see stuff in the flight sim I'd think using the simulated aircraft's autopilot is a good technique. The A/P frees up lots of your mental CPU cycles so you can watch what is happening and the A/P isn't going to do harsh and severe control manipulations, especially if your sim plane is a training plane. The biggest bang for your book is learning the book material. Sitting in a VERY loud small aircraft with the money meter running is the worst place to try and learn some complicated ideas. I highly recommend the YouTube channels of The Finer Points and Angle of Attack. They are master instructors and they are good at explaining the concepts and maneuvers. You won't learn bad habits from watching them. I'd try t focus on one YT flight instructor, once you find one you like.

Welp according to Florida DOT I have to take the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) before I can get a HazMat Endorsement.

So tack on another $80 and another trip to the DMV.

On a positive note I am getting My doubles and Triples. Thought about Passenger as well but that requires a road test so I will put that off for now.

Google ELDT for hazmat. Plenty of sites where you can get it for $25.

I got one for $59 complete with registration. From what I heard, Those cheaper ones charge you an upsell to get registered Or it's just a manual. So be careful.

Don't you have to go take the in class deal, now? Surely this is all covered in that. Otherwise, what would be the point? /sarcasm

If it's your first time you have to take the ELDT. This is new since last year.

However, to study and pass well using the videos on you tube helped me a ton since I have little downtime.

Using Truckers University for all sorts of things.

    Endorsements, economics, foreign language .

Truck U is the best education out there!
I just passed my doubles triples and hazmat. Just waiting on the background check now.

    I'm grandfathered in, so meh.

Get a passport. Your hazmat backgrounds will have a 12 hour turnaround. Plus, passport. Best $200 I've ever spent in the realm of government ID's.

I got my Passport Last year.

What do you mean by 12 hour turn around? I was told 30 days until I get my X endorsement in the mail (I already have tanker and doubles)

I get my hazmat backgrounds back within a day. Typically twelve hours, even less in my experience. I had to renew my license last year, and Ohio made me re-take the hazmat, with finger printing and background check, I'm not joking when I say it came back good the same day, during business hours.

It was specifically pointed out that it has such a quick turn around, because of my passport. I also have a twic card.
