You can recover the cost of a microwave and refrigerator in the first month with just the savings alone.
Not to mention the wide variety of healthier foods you can have.

I have a huge cooler from Rubbermaid I bought years ago. Had it working in the truck and took it out here this weekend. It always ran between 40-45 degrees for me and it's just not enough for me to keep it cold enough to safely store meats and stuff for sandwiches.

So off to find one that will be just about half the size and such as it's not all needed to store and cool air.

I say -- stick to the 3 most important foods while OTR.

    Burger King, McDonalds and Subway.

Though I hate going there Walmart is going to be your best bet! Most are easy to get in and out of and they are all over the country. Use to keep a little list in my Truck Stop Guide of all the Wally Worlds that were right off the interstate and big truck friendly.

Truck stop is way to expensive and very unhealthy. Even the broccoli they have is cooked in butter and oil! Subway isn't bad every once and awhile but can be costly and is high in calorie anyway.

Though flatbedding is a little more work it by no means replaces any kind of good exercise or benefit you after eating the "botulism buffet"!

like most the others said, if you're in the T/S 2-3 times a day you're basically working to feed yourself, and you're gonna pack on some pounds...

I personally have something quick for breakfast, cereal, cereal bar, yogurt, sometimes a bagel. I have a fridge and microwave in my truck, the fridge is HUGE, 4.4L, got it off craigslist for $100 and was in like new condition. lunch I have coldcuts, tuna that someone else mentioned from wally world that comes in pouches ready to eat. dinner is the only time I actually have a 'meal'.... I can fit 6 hungryman dinners in my freezer compartment in my fridge. then I have some ramen type kimchi bowls, they have mashed potatoes that are single serve just add water and microwave i found for like a buck, canned soups, there are some small meal type things that dont need to be refrigerated but I can't remember who makes them, called compleats or something...

theres lots of options, others use slow cookers and such, lots of posts on here, cookbooks as well. when you're on the road you are going to want to stay OUT of the truck stops. I tend to stay at them when I stop, but the only time I usually go into them is in the am to use the restroom.

Hormel makes the "compleates". I eat then too and add a veggie to the menu when i have one.
