Ok. Some just enjoy grabbing gears. With a 18sp they can start out empty in low and split all the gears..have more shifting practice lol.

Why is that guy so angry
-
And more wear on everything. Most of the time I run both like a 9 only split when neededstillwurkin Thanks this.
-
You use what's necessary and nothing else. Using unwanted or not needed gears only puts additional wear on many parts. I've driven a few trucks to know that moving 80,000lbs to 110,000lbs does not require low gears. Treat the equipment right and it'll treat you right.
jamespmack, just_sayin and stillwurkin Thank this. -
Exactly. Nothing to do with anger. Just cause you have 10, 13, or 18speeds you dont have to run through them all. Just say'in. But each to their own.

That works great with fresh fuel filters.
Not so great when filters get changed every 20,000 miles instead of 10,000 with the service.
Thank goodness for granny gear.
Only time I split 18 is when climbing. Whether a dead stop or already crushing oppo -
I have a question.. got my truck upgrade to a 600hp with 2050 tq.. right off the bk had yo upgrade the clutch.. now my transmission went out. It had a rto16210c.. what would be a good one to put in it.. I have a 98 n14 eclectic plus with 370 rears.. thanks for the help..

With that horsepower, you'll want a transmission rated for at least 1850 torque rating, but preferably a 2050 rating. The first two numbers in the Eaton model number is the torque rating. So on your rto16210c, it's rated for 1600 lb ft. So, if you can find something with 20 as the first numbers, that would be a 2050 lb ft transmission.
I'm sure someone will chime in here with more info if I'm wrong -
And drive it accordingly just because you have it doesn't mean you need to use it all the time. I'm guessing the right foot will help tremendously. My dad runs a turned up truck with a RTOO 14613. Bigger turbo, injectors and the rack opened. Its been fine, doesn't heat up. Cant just mash it like when it was stockrbrtwbstr Thanks this.

It really all depends on!
A, B Or C ratio in the transmission
The gear ratio of the drives!
How big the pony under the hood is.
