I have a 13 speed Eaton Fuller Transmission inside a 379 Peterbilt and while on the job running my wet kit my PTO started making a horrible grinding noise. A few minutes later the whole thing completely stopped working and only made a faint grinding noise.
I took the PTO off and sure enough it was completely fried, but the transmission looked perfectly fine, none of the gears were worn or seemed to have any damage so I chalked it up to the PTO being engaged/disengaged incorrectly at some point and it gradually wearing out on its own.
However I decided to look up in the transmission housing anyways for any stray metal or pieces of PTO gears that may have gone up there.
I ended up find and scraping off a lot of flecks of metal from the magnets and these two intact springs were both stuck to the magnets as well. I don't think the springs came from the PTO and now I'm wondering if the damage to my PTO came from a failure in the transmission.
The tranny works great with the exception that it makes a weird grinding noise when going fast in it's highest gear (which it's made for as long as I've owned the truck.)

spsauerland and Roger McG Thank this.

Left looks like shifter detent spring. Right i can't place. But I would be concerned with the damage you can't see. Most PTO failures result in low oil. With all your description, I would be removing and rebuilding.
99.9% of the time, the pto is responsible for wipping out the trans.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Pretty sure the right one is a detent spring for under the shift tower.
Left appears to be one of the three smaller springs on the synchronizerStray_Dog Thanks this. -
Right is to large of diameter and to small of spring wire. Left would be detent spring. And it would pop out of gear, or be broken. My guess is some dummy beater dropped it it.spsauerland and Roger McG Thank this. -
Was the PTO side or bottom mount? The left spring looks like a shifter detent spring.
It might have been dropped in the transmission during a repair. It can't come out on
its own. No idea where the larger spring came from. -
c15 cat with a fro16210c transmission want to replace with an 18 speed where would I find what number trans would work ?

If so put a PTO on it and go back to work. -

There is a spring and plunger held in with a roll pin that keeps the shifter in the center while in neutral. If you push the shifter to the right or left while in neutral and it stays there and doesnt return to the center that could be the spring you found. The plunger and roll pin will be in the bottom of the transmission also with a few broken gear teeth probably.
