    Buy a connex, galaxy or general lee with echo and talkback built in, they are all the same for around $ 260 at your friendly cb shop. Take your cobra 29 ltd and put it in your wifey's car or kids pick em up truck, now your rolling with the Big Dogs. Flip that roger beep to the OFF position, unless your transmitting to someone on the ISS.

    Darn I wish I knew that about a year ago. I bought a old president grant from and old feller that was going to give one to me with the radio but I turned it down not planning on have a base station. Kicking myself in the butt now.

    The D-104 is not a good mike with newer radios there are MUCH better ones. The idea of the big cartarge was lots of area to pick up sound.
    ALSO it was very high impedance in the meg ohms while new radios run 50k to as low as 500 ohms.

    The reason a preamp was installed was first the CB users wanted one and it allowed for the mike be match from the very high Z to that low Z common in solid state radios .....

    I have 3 of them 2 new never used .....
