I will give a "real referral " to my guy.
Frenando is the only tuner I know that has a full test stand for the big three motors, he was able to load my tune into his test stand and work out a problem I had, think diesel doctor can do that for you.
Go thru his site and see what he can offer you.
A truckstop tune may not do as much as promised if you don't have the right turbo, more fuel without more air will just create heat and smoke, you will gain some power but watch the pyro or you will melt a piston.

Thanks everybody. Does anybody have a N14 by chance? If so, did tune really improve mpg or was mainly power?

If done right you will gain both, but, but, you have to drive it right, your right foot will make a difference.
Test by driving with the cruise off and try and keep the boost under 15, keep the rpm's up going up hill don't lug it way down and don't try and be the first up a hill, get a scan gage or other mpg meter and watch how your mileage changes by how you drive.

Thanks, I do those things, I was just wondering if tune can improve mpg without changing driving habits

Ok yes, the right tune can improve mileage. So can different tires , air cleaners, running the overhead, new injectors

Manufacturers don't make a truck get less MPG's then it can. If they could get more they would by doing an ECM tune but it takes a toll on the engine so they don't. I can pump nitro into my car and get twice the horsepower but it would last about 50 miles then explode.

If you could increase you MPG by simply installing a Turbo 3000 every single truck manufacturer would do it. They all want as much MPG as they can. The more MPG the more sales. Plain and simple.

And to make them IDIOT proof, most new trucks don't have a boost gauge or pyrometer, or a driver capable of understanding them. Most don't look at the temp gauge until the buzzer comes on.. they lug down until it starts bucking for fear of missing a down shift.

If this were true then every Detroit would have come factory with a Borg Warner 171702 and a tune to match.

@Old Man do you have a stock turbo or have you swapped yours out for the Borg Warner?
