The engine only makes so much power. You might have more gear reduction at the axle with 4.10's but you're going to be in a higher gear in the transmission so you're pretty much in the same place all said and done.

@Goodysnap may be able to help with the speed limiter question.
AriGab Thanks this. -
A 20 year old truck. Speed could have been changed. I think the speed limit may have been lower in 2005.
The ecu settings can be changed.
I once drove an 05 w900 that was a swift truck. It was set for 65. Untill it got the ecu reflashed. It had no limits after that. Except maybe the rpm.
Keep in mind it may have a password. Cummins had to use a zapper software to crack the password before they could reflash it. -
On new truck orders the speeds can be set to the customers request upon delivery. You can have the speeds changed to what you wish. Cummins engines have a max speed setting of 125. Note- most heavy spec vocational trucks with the big rubber on steers- 385 and 425 are max speed rated at 68mph. Most dealers will not set the speeds above this for liability/ safety reasons.
Lonesome, Oxbow, 062 and 1 other person Thank this. -
the dealer is better to talk to than people on any forum.
Most dealers have ordered a few trucks and know how to gear them and how to have the truck setup for you, the customer. -
Honey buckets should be limited to 45mph.
