Correct, if you are required to load piece and count the trailer, or tarp then you have to log on duty. Otherwise when the customer asks you to leave the truck and wait in the waiting room/lounge you are off duty.

After I check in at con or shipper I'm not staying on duty even if the rules are written in bold writing or in plain english period.

I thought it said in the FMCSA that no one except the driver is allowed to edit logs. So how is it that the Safety Dept. can edit for you?

If their going to make us log ON DUTY for all our time at a ship or cons, than I think we need to start getting paid by the hour. Or about $5.00 a mile

So what we do is require drivers to submit a form. counts as an electronic signature for log changes. Pair that with the logs and presto chango requirement achieved.sjtrucker Thanks this.
